I love this couple for how much they clearly love each other – Nalkuber curses Ravana as best he can, considering Brahma’s boon, while still avenging his wife and protecting Sita generations later – and also for how they can make mistakes, such as Rambha being cursed to spend ten thousand years as a rock in penance and Nalkuber’s vices leading him to being cursed as a tree. 

How did Rambha and Nalkuber meet? Rambha is queen of the apsaras and Nalkuber king of the yakshas, and I envision them as devoted rulers of their realms. How do they manage running two kingdoms?

How does he spend the ten thousand years she’s a rock? How does she spend the years he’s a tree? How do they react to Rama banishing Sita, even though the curse Rambha and Nalkuber laid on Ravana ensured she would remain chaste? Do they feel as though her pain was wasted?

I’m also down for fix-it AUs where Rambha and Nalkuber overthrow his half-uncle and take over Lanka.

My poor boys who deserved so much better. I’d like to read canon-compliant missing moments about their life in Valmiki’s ashram, with their mother, or post-canon fics about their life in Ayodhya post-bhumipravesh. Everyone has their own interpretations, but I personally don’t see their post-canon lives being very happy, having to live with the city and the father who drove their mother to suicide. I also wonder how they adjust to life in a palace after growing up in a hermitage, and if they have any resentment (however subtle) towards their mother for leaving them.

I’d like to see how Bharata and Mandavi’s relationship is affected by the events on Rama’s coronation day. I personally don’t like interpretations that he lived alone at Nandigram while she lived in the palace. After dealing with his father’s death, his mother’s treachery, the burdens and guilt of kingship, and his brothers’ exile, I would think he would rely on his wife more than ever before. How do they cope with suddenly becoming regent king and queen, although they never expected to rule? Any day-to-day drama about the petty problems of ruling a kingdom? Winning the people’s trust, in the wake of Rama’s popularity?

Sina Waialiki/Tui Waialiki/Tui Waialiki's Best Friend

I recently wrote this pairing for a fic exchange and I think I have a new OT3! Anything about them would make me happy! Pre-canon fluffy fic of them getting together? More angsty present day fic of them coping with the best friend’s death? An AU where he survives and they live as a triad couple, either secretly or openly, to acceptance or no acceptance? How does his survival affect each of their attitudes towards sailing? How does it affect their rule of the island? How they raise Moana (and any other children they have?)

I’m also curious to see any worldbuilding you’d like to incorporate, in case inspiration strikes you!

I have a bunch of fics written in an AU verse where these three were in a happy secret polyamorous relationship from January 1536, with Thomas as the father of half of the royal children. I also explore how Mary Tudor (who has a happier life and remains a princess in my universe) comes to terms with their relationship. But I’d be happy with any take on their relationship you want to write! Do they get together during the Great Matter, or during Anne’s reign? Do they meet earlier? How does it end? Similarly, or more happily?

This is SUCH an interesting dynamic that I chose both the M/M/M and the Any version of it. How did the first spouse “die”? Did they go missing? Were they held hostage? Kidnapped by the fae? Did the ruler and the first spouse have children? With the second? How does that complicate matters? Maybe the first spouse’s children have no memory of their missing parent and consider the second spouse “their” parent? (Note that I’m fine with mpreg, in case you do the M/M/M pairing.) Does the spouse returning create any political turmoil? Is the second spouse suspected of having a hand in the “death” of the first?

 Man Seeking Custody of Orphaned Relative/Man From Other Side Of Family Also Seeking Custody

Two relatives of an orphaned child have a claim to custody of said child, and to resolve the custody battle, they marry. Is it ordered/suggested by a court? Is it arranged by themselves? Is there a history of enmity between the two sides of the family? Are they still grieving the deaths of the child’s parents? Would love to see the adoptive parents bonding with the child!

Jodhaa Akbar: Rajkumari Jodhaa, Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar, Rajkumar Sujamal

I’ve loved this movie for many years as the quintessential interfaith historical slow burn epic of my dreams! I love the relationship between Jodhaa and Jalal, all the little moments they share and the underlying respect between them, how they bend but never break, and the dynamics of the Mughal court. I love Sujamal and all that his character hints at about the dynamics of the Amer palace, and his complicated relationship with Jodhaa as well.

Prompts: Anything about Jodhaa and Jalal’s courtship. Missing moments, little tensions, gestures. Anything about either of their childhoods, their relationship with their parents and mentors, their views on the other kingdom/empire. 

Anything about Sujamal. His pre-canon relationship with Jodhaa, his headspace during the movie, his fears for how his sister is doing in her new home. His relationship with his uncle, his attempts to get support for Amer’s throne. An AU where he survives and deals with becoming part of the Mughal court/navigating his new relationship with Jodhaa.

Padmaavat: Padmavati, Nagmati, Mehrunissa

I admittedly was not the biggest fan of this movie, but its three main female characters intrigued me a lot, as they were so interesting and deserved so much better from the narrative. They show hints of complexity and strength, but are overshadowed by the men in their lives and have their voices silenced. 

Prompts: Fics set in an AU where Mehrunissa escapes with Padmavati and Ratan Singh, and instead of committing jauhar, the three queens escape into exile. I’ve written a few fics exploring this universe, and you can also find more under the tag “golden girls au” on avani008’s Tumblr here. Anything set in this verse would be awesome! Visiting Padmavati’s childhood home, or Nagmati’s. Working in secret to dismantle Alauddin’s reign of terror. Nagmati being sharp and sarcastic but wise and the voice of reason. Cultural exchanges between Mehrunissa and Padmavati and/or Nagmati. 

Mehrunissa/Padmavati! This crackship is based on the scene where they meet and Mehru is gobsmacked by Padmavati’s beauty, even saying that she can’t blame her husband for being attracted to her. Mutual pining, an AU where they escape together, oblivious lesbians. First times (of any kind). 

Fic that focuses on any single one of these ladies. Fics about their childhood or lives pre-marriage, on their interactions with the court, being Royals Who Actually Do Something.

DNW: Solely Alauddin-centric, Ratan Singh-centric, or Malik Kafur-centric fic without at least one of the ladies also having a major role in the fic. 

Ramayana: Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Urmila

Prompts: Interactions between Rama, Sita, and/or Lakshman during the 14 years of exile. Arguments or adventures they had that never made it into the epics. Rama/Sita being an awesome couple with mutual respect and affection. Lakshman being the overprotective suspicious younger brother who never sleeps. Sita and Lakshman interacting without Rama there. 

Sita during her imprisonment in Lanka. Her various friendships with Trijata, Mandodari, Sarama, and other benefactors. Interactions with Indrajit or Ravana. 

Urmila back home in Ayodhya. How does she (and the rest of the royal family) try to keep the kingdom running? If you subscribe to the story of her sleeping for fourteen years, did she have any adventures serving Nidra Devi in dreamland? Maybe she tried to influence the course of events through other people’s dreams? 

DNW: No Uttar Khanda canon, please!

The Tudors: Mary I of England, Elizabeth I of England, Anne Boleyn, Katherine of Aragon

Prompts: Interactions between any of these ladies! Mary and baby/toddler Elizabeth bonding at Hatfield, despite Mary’s resentments. Their more complicated relationship in Elizabeth’s teen years. AUs where one or more of them are not enemies/allies/friends. 

DNW: No victim blaming or bashing. Uneasy tensions are fine, and a given considering history, but no tearing down one woman to lift up the other.

Shadow of the Tower: Henry VII, Elizabeth of York, Margaret Beaufort

Prompts: Anything about the interactions between these three! The slow thaw in Henry VII and Elizabeth’s marriage, the dynamics and trust issues and power imbalances and outside factors. Margaret showing Elizabeth the ropes of court, working together to manage the Tudor dynasty. All three of them together.

DNW: Henry VII/Richard III, Richard III/Elizabeth of York

Moana: Moana Waialiki, Sina Waialiki, Tui Waialiki, Gramma Tala

Prompts: Sina/Tui! How did they get together? Did the death of Tui’s friend have anything to do with it? Pre-canon fic focusing on their young married life before Moana/with a young Moana, just learning how to be a chief and chieftess of an island. Gramma Tala being a slightly eccentric mentor. How does Sina feel about the ocean throughout the years? How did she become convinced Moana had to go after all? How do Sina and Tui cope while Moana is away? How does Tui grapple with the revelation Sina helped Moana leave? I’d love to see the tension this creates between them, and how they resolved it. 

DNW: Tamatoa, Maui -- nothing against these characters, but I’m more interested in the Waialiki family dynamics.
